Corrosion testing for Neutral Salt Spray (NSS), Acetic Acid Salt Spray (AASS) and Cupro-Acetic Salt Spray (CASS) are strictly regulated by technical standards such as ISO, ASTM, JIS and others.

All parameters in pre-tests, during tests and post-tests (final results), must be carefully monitored to have a correct corrosion analysis of the specimen tested according to the procedures described in the standards, it is important to highlight that corrosion testing are comparative, that is why the technical standards compliance is very important.

It is worth clarifying that the chamber’s dimensions and volumes are specified in this standards (ISO 9227 – item 6.2), the procedures for placing the specimen (ASTM B117 – item 10.2) inside the chamber shows that chambers with small volume lead to mistakes due to the difficulty in adjusting tests parameters mentioned in the technical standards.

There is, in the standards, information about how these parameters must be respected, Equilam has done for a long time, deep and constant studies on the normative requirement and thus guarantees that our equipment is reliable to technical standards, this way your tests gain validity, otherwise it would lose it if performed in the chamber in nonconformity.

Thus, we are convinced that equipment with an internal volume of less than 400 liters will have distorted results, and the customer will lose time and money investing in equipment that does not comply with the standards.

That is why, we work to inform and serve our customers correctly! And recommend you to not to purchase equipment that deliberately does not fulfill the expected function!

If we take a moment to analyze the drawing above, and make some calcs, we have that to comply with the standard dimensions (wall and Atomizer Tower distances) there must be a minimum of 60cm length and 60cm width, which makes up for a 216 liters volume chamber. These measures having no exposition area, so it will depend on the desired exposition area to define what is going to add up to the 60cm width and length. For example, to have a 20 cm exposition area, a chamber of 512 liters volume is needed.
